When fully expanded, it offers a workspace similar in size to a Galaxy Tab 10 FE (10.9 inches), yet visually resembles a Galaxy Z Fold 7 with an added segment. Huawei has experimented with a comparable concept in its Mate XT, though that device remains unavailable in the US due to ongoing restrictions tied to the company’s Chinese ownership.

The TriFold launches first in South Korea on Dec. 12, with releases in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE shortly after. It’s expected to arrive in the US during the first quarter of 2026. Samsung has not disclosed pricing.

Samsung describes the TriFold as its largest smartphone display to date, designed to blend the convenience of a phone with tablet-level productivity and a creative workstation feel - all in a foldable package.

Even with three screens, Samsung says the device maintains a surprisingly sleek profile: 3.9mm when open and 12.9mm when folded. (For comparison, the two-panel Z Fold 7 measures 4.2mm open and 8.9mm folded.) Durability is boosted through a titanium-reinforced hinge cover, an Armor Aluminum frame, a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 front, and a rear made of ceramic-glass-fiber-reinforced polymer.

According to Samsung, two differently sized hinges using a dual-rail system help the panels fold more smoothly and align with minimal gaps, which contributes to the device’s thin design.

Powering the TriFold is Samsung’s largest battery ever in a foldable - a 5,600mAh three-cell setup spanning the device’s panels, paired with 45W fast charging and the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset.

TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung’s Device eXperience division, says the TriFold tackles one of the industry’s longest-running challenges: combining portability, performance, and productivity in a single device.

The expanded screen allows users to run multiple apps side-by-side, resize windows like on a desktop, and view documents more comfortably. A 200MP camera lets users capture and edit high-resolution footage, and Galaxy AI tools help compare edits on the large display.

Samsung imagines professionals using the TriFold as a mobile workstation - for example, an architect reviewing plans, writing notes, and running calculations simultaneously across the triple-window layout without interruption during calls.

The TriFold can also double as a secondary display. In Extended Mode, it functions alongside an external monitor, allowing users to drag apps across screens and pair peripherals like a mouse and keyboard over Bluetooth - essentially turning the phone into part of a compact PC setup.

Google’s Gemini Live experience becomes more useful on a large screen, offering conversational assistance while multitasking. When sharing your screen or camera with Gemini, it can respond to what it sees. Samsung includes six months of Google AI Pro, which adds features such as Veo 3 video generation and 2TB of cloud storage.

The device ships in black with 16GB RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. It supports 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and carries an IP48 water-resistance rating, plus a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

And if you fold it incorrectly? The TriFold will gently notify you with on-screen prompts and vibrations to ensure the panels close properly.

The Galaxy Z TriFold introduces a triple-panel layout that opens into a wide, 10-inch display.
